Borderless prints are well suited for block or Dibond mounting. A bordered print has a white margin surrounding the entire image. We use a margin of 2.5cm of A4 size prints (reduction of 5cm in image size in both dimensions) and 4cm on larger prints (reduction of 8cm in image size in both dimensions). On bordered prints, the artist signature and edition number are written in the bottom right margin. Bordered prints are well suited to presentation in a tradition frame or card mount with bevelled aperture and the border sizes are chosen to allow the signature and edition number to be seen even when framed. A bordered canvas print lends itself to traditional stretch framing where the border is wrapped behind the stretchers before being stapled - if you intend this kind of presentation, please contact us to let us know and we will place the signature and edition number appropriately allowing for the part of the image that will sit on the sides of the stretchers. Bordered prints can, of course, also be block or Dibond mounted where you wish to keep the artist signature and edition number away from the image.
Mount: We do not offer traditional card mounts or frames because (a) individual tastes in mount and frame colours and styles varies so much and (b) the costs and risks of sending such fragile items through the post are just too high in our experience - no matter how well they are packed. We do offer a mounting method called Dibond - a composite sheet material that is extremely rigid. We offer two options - (a) 4mm thick plastic faced sheet with a black foam core or (b) 1mm thick aluminium. In either case, as the print extends to the very edge of the mount, once hung the mount is all but invisible. The 4mm material is, in our experience, a superb way of displaying an image in a frame without glass as the image is glued firmly to the Dibond and therefore has no chance to lift, slip or wrinkle. The aluminium sheet can be used (to give just a couple of examples) 'exhibition style' using steel cords strung between floor and ceiling or using a lightweight aluminium frame glued behind the panel to hold the image off the wall giving it the appearance of floating. There are plenty of suppliers on the web who offer different Dibond mounting accessories.
(opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.hahnemuehle.com/en/digital-fineart/fineart-media/matt-fineart-textured/p/Product/show/9/12.html" target="_blank">Hahnemuehle Torchon 285gsm paper, a smooth, lightly dimpled matt finish paper that resembles well the type of paper on which original watercolour art was created OR Canvas – we use <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Size: Choose from the range of sizes offered

Material: Paper - we use Hahnemuehle Torchon 285gsm paper, a smooth, lightly dimpled matt finish paper that resembles well the type of paper on which the original art was created OR Canvas - we use Hahnemuehle Daguerre 400gsm canvas which has a regular fine weave and a matt surface finish.
Borders: A borderless print has no margins, the image is printed edge-to-edge and the signature and edition number are written on the surface of the image.
